They never said that on the open day

Today I found out that my university has shares in companies that support the arms trade.
My tuition money is being used for bullets when I gave it for books. However indirectly, I am responsible and I feel it in a way someone higher up in the 'let's kill lots of people' chain probably wouldn't; I suspect that the principal of my university sleeps just fine.
I was naive. I would never knowingly contribute to the suffering of another human being, and was stupid enough to think that the people and establishments around me felt the same way. Now I'm legally bound to give money to an institution that, through investing in unethical companies, is helping to support all kinds of atrocities.
My mother tells me not to take it so hard, that it isn't my fault; but for me, right is right and wrong is wrong. However unknowingly and in however a small way, I have contributed to the arms trade. I have helped to support a despicable commerce that trades in people's lives for money and power. Try taking that with you to the grave; I'm sure all the skeletons next to you will just die with envy.
